Matthew “Matto” Traynor

Matthew “Matto” Thomas Traynor lost his battle with addiction on June 4, 2016 . He was 25 years old.

Matthew had an unmatched love for the outdoors. An avid sportsman, he could be found hunting or fishing with his friends or family. He particularly enjoyed duck hunting and would even camp out early in the morning to stake his claim to a field shoot. He was passionate about golf and found ample opportunity to do so as both a member and employee of the Fargo Country Club. Matthew truly lived life to the fullest, and his charismatic personality will be missed by all.

Following an overwhelming show of community support upon Matthew’s passing, the Traynor family felt compelled to take action and prevent addiction from taking lives. The family worked closely with Dakota Medical Foundation to establish a charitable fund in memory of Matthew.

The Matto Foundation was established in 2016 with a mission to educate kids and families to delay, decrease, and defeat substance abuse and addiction in our community.
